The obvious reason of having a buffet style dinner at your wedding is it gives your guests the opportunity to choose what they want to eat. That way everyone is happy, and they can have as much or as little as they desire. There are multiple choices for various dietary restrictions such as well as a multitude of side dishes for vegetarians that hate getting pasta at every wedding.

But the usual downside of the buffet table is that food that is popular usually runs out. If you do not plan ahead for this, then you may have guests that didn’t get what they wanted to eat. Not only does any one have to move until the wedding dance, but the staff can also attend to any issues without the couple even knowing about it. Drinks can be served which is wonderful for everyone, and no need to get up and down during dinner. Your guests just sit down and enjoy being waitered upon.

But service like this does come with at a price. It is more costly to have staff waiting on your guests, especially if you have lots of guests.

Both buffet and service is a great option for wedding reception dinners. If you’re looking for something a more casual, then the buffet will is the way to go, but for the more formal occasion, service is the best option. You may want to pause and consider your guests at this point before you make the decision. If they’re older and don’t move around too well, then service the best option to keep them comfortable.
